Urgent Alert: New Return Shipping Policy
The Embassy of India and Consulates of India will no longer return passports to the applicants or visa services. All passports are now returned directly by the Indian government by mail once processing is complete. Furthermore, they will be mailed only to the applicants “Present Address” as listed on their visa application form which in turn must match the address on their proof of consular jurisdiction.

Because of this policy we highly recommend applicants consider applying for an e-Visa to India if possible.

The normal validity of traditional tourist visa to India for a U.S. citizen is 5-10 years with multiple entries.

The normal validity of an tourist e-Visa to India for a U.S. citizen is double entry only, good for 120 days from the date of issue for a stay up to 60 days. Only two Indian e-Visas can be issued for the same applicant within one year.

Indian Visa Applications for minors traveling to India must be submitted with

  • An original & notarized Minor Authorization Form
  • Clear color copy of the minor’s birth certificate
  • Clear color copy of both parents passports
  • Clear color copy of both parents Drivers License

Minors Signing the India Visa Application Form should sign their name inside the signature box under the photo on first page of the application. If the child is too young to sign their name, the child’s thumbprint must be stamped inside the signature box under the photo on first page of the application.  On the second page of the application, both of the child’s parents (not the child) must sign the application, and both parents signatures must be notarized. Applications without both parents notarized signatures will not be accepted. A copy of the parents driver’s license or utility bill can be used for proof of consular jurisdiction.

Minors of Indian Origin must submit a clear color copy of the parents cancelled Indian Passport and Renunciation Certificate.

Applicants of Indian Origin are required to surrender their Indian citizenship to get an Indian visa. Those who have already renounced their Indian citizenship must provide a clear color copy of their renunciation certificate AND naturalization certificate. Those who have NOT renounced Indian citizenship must first apply for renunciation.

Applicants of Pakistani origin are required to submit visa applications in person. US Visa Connection cannot submit Indian visa applications for Pakistani nationals or applicants of Pakistani origin.

A letter of invitation from India which should be on company letterhead and signed by an appropriate representative of the inviting organization. This can be a scanned or emailed copy.

A letter of invitation from the inviting organization explaining the relationship to the applicant and specifically state the purpose of the visit. The letter should indicate the validity of visa applied for (1 Year, 5 Year or 10 Year) as well as the length of stay, place of stay, and complete contact information of the Indian company.

Important Note: The stated validity request (1 Year, 5 Year or 10 Year) in the Business Letter, Letter of Invitation and the Visa application form  must match. Any visa application submissions in which these three items do not match will be rejected by the Indian Embassy & Consulates of India.

Journalist applying for an Indian visa must complete the India Journalist Undertaking Letter.

Pilots and Crew members of all Chartered Flights, Private jets, Cargo Planes, Demonstration & Trainering Flights are in the category of unscheduled airlines and require prior clearance from relevant authorities in India. No visa will be issued without this mandatory clearance. The current minimum time required for processing visa applications for pilots and crew members is 5 weeks. When completing an application for a flight crew business visa the specific job title must be on the application “crew member” is not an acceptable occupation. Please specifically designate Pilot or Flight Attendant in occupation.The following additional forms are required:

  • The landing permit issued to the airline or cargo operator by the DGCA (Director General of Civil Aviation) in India
  • Copy of the A999 (Air Operators Certificate) issued by the FAA
  • Copy of the ICAO issued by the FAA
  • Certificate of Incorporation issued by the Government of India to the company’s India office

Applicant will  be finger printed and must submit a letter from the their employer on company letterhead stating that the applicant will NOT be performing any media related work. Applicants who have previously traveled to China must provide a copy of the previous Chinese visa. If the visa was issued to a previous passport, a photocopy of the canceled passport’s information page must also be included or you may send the canceled passport itself.

For applicants visiting Hong Kong or Macau, this is considered leaving China. Applicants planning to leave mainland China to visit Hong Kong or Macau with the intention to re-enter before their final departure from china should ensure to apply for a multiple entry visa.
