Important Note: The Indian Government now offers the e-Visa (electronic visa) as well as the traditional stamped visa. The Indian e-Visa is good for double entry (two), valid for 120 days from date of issue & allows for stay of no more than 60 days. Travelers who wish to avoid lengthy delays at the airport in India or just desire a longer visa validity with multiple entries should apply for a traditional stamped India Visa.

Please provide a clear color scan of your passport main information page. Your passport should be valid for 6 months beyond your intended stay in India and with at least two blank visa pages available for Indian entry & exit stamps. Please note that the last few pages in your passport are amendment pages for U.S. State Department use only and as such cannot be used for an India entry or exit stamp.

You will need to provide clear color scan of a passport photo which should be:

  • in color & not blurry;
  • 2x2 in size;
  • front view with body completely facing forward;
  • on a plain white background;
  • with no glasses or head wear;
  • not older than 90 days;
  • taken at a reputable facility such as Walgreen’s, CVS or Fed Ex.

The India e-Visa is processed electronically usually in 1-4 business days and when issued it will be sent to the applicant via email. The limit of Indian e-visas a traveler can obtain per calendar year is two.

Upon arrival in India, the traveler will need to have their bio-metric information taken at the airport. Travelers who wish to avoid lengthy delays at the airport in India or just desire a longer visa validity with multiple entries should apply for a traditional stamped India Visa. The e-visa, once formally issued upon the applicants arrival in India, is non-extendable, non-convertible, and not valid for visiting any Protected, Restricted or Cantonment (Military) areas.

The validity of the Indian e-Visa is double entry (two), good for 120 days from the date of issue & with a max stay of not more than 60 days. The online India e-Visa application must be submitted no later than 4 days prior to the travelers departure for India, and no earlier than 120 days before the date of arrival in India.

The Indian E-Visa is only valid for entry into 25 international airports and 4 Seaports.

Minors Signing the India Visa Application Form should sign their name inside the signature box under the photo on first page of the application. If the child is too young to sign their name, the child’s thumbprint must be stamped inside the signature box under the photo on first page of the application.  On the second page of the application, both of the child’s parents (not the child) must sign the application, and both parents signatures must be notarized. Applications without both parents notarized signatures will not be accepted. A copy of the parents driver’s license or utility bill can be used for proof of consular jurisdiction.

Minors of Indian Origin must submit a clear color copy of the parents cancelled Indian Passport and Renunciation Certificate.

Applicants of Indian Origin are required to surrender their Indian citizenship to get an Indian visa. Those who have already renounced their Indian citizenship must provide a clear color copy of their renunciation certificate AND naturalization certificate. Those who have NOT renounced Indian citizenship must first apply for renunciation.

Applicants of Pakistani origin are required to submit visa applications in person. US Visa Connection cannot submit Indian visa applications for Pakistani nationals or applicants of Pakistani origin.
