Please send your actual, signed passport which should be valid for 6 months beyond your intended stay in Kenya and with at least two blank visa pages available for Kenyan visa stamps. Please note that the last few pages in your passport are amendment pages for U.S. State Department use only and as such cannot be used for a Kenya tourist visa stamp.

  • not older than 90 days;
  • taken at a reputable facility such as Walgreen’s, CVS or Fed Ex.

Important Note: The Kenyan tourist visa application form should be typed and fully completed. Handwritten applications and those with blanks will be rejected by the Embassy of Kenya & Kenyan Consulates.

A copy of round trip tickets or confirmed flight itinerary which should include applicants name and show entry into and exit from Kenya.

Important Note: If staying with family or friends, you should instead provide an letter of invitation and a copy of their local ID or passport.

Kenya Tourist Visa


Minors ages 16 and under do not require a visa for travel to Kenya.

An International Certificate of Yellow Fever Vaccination is required for tourist travel to Kenya.

You should apply for the Kenyan e-visa if you only require a single entry visa for Kenya. The e-visa is valid for a single entry only and  must be used within 90 days from date of issue for stay up to 90 days. It is possible to extend the e-visa while in Kenya for up to an additional 90 days. If you would like to apply for the Kenyan e-visa, visit the UVC Kenyan e-visa page.

You should apply for the traditional Kenyan visa if you require multiple entries into Kenya or plan to return within 6 months. This visa must stamped into your passport at the Embassy of Kenya or one of the Kenyan Consulates. The traditional Kenyan visa stamp is valid for multiple entries and must be used within 6 months to 5 Years from date of issue. 90 days from date of issue for stay up to 90 days. It is possible to extend the 90 day stay while in Kenya for up to an additional 90 days.

The Kenyan 5 year multiple entry visa is not recommend due to a visa processing time of 1 month to 6 months. If the visa is denied or delayed and the applicant decides not to continue processing, consular fees will not be refunded by the embassy. For these reasons, UVC does not assist with 5 year Kenya visa applications.

A business letter of introduction from your US based employer. The letter should be addressed to the attention of the “Consulate General of Kenya” and must:

  • be on company letterhead;
  • state applicants name, position in company & passport number;
  • signed by an officer of the company other than the applicant
  • states dates of entry into & exit from Kenya;
  • provide financial guarantee for expenses incurred in Kenya;
  • clearly state the nature & purpose of the business visit to Kenya;
  • provide name, address & phone of the inviting individual or organization in Kenya;
  • Specify the type and desired validity of the Kenyan visa.
